Dr. Patrick McHale

Veterinarian

Dr. Patrick McHale is a Greenbrier County native. Growing up on a farm, he was naturally involved in showing beef cattle both in FFA and 4-H. Focused on a career in veterinary medicine, he began his education at Greenbrier Community College, moved on to Virginia Tech, earning a degree in Animal Science and Biology, and then graduated veterinary school from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine. He began his career at Bedford Animal
Hospital. 4 years later, he opened the doors to Seneca Trail Animal Hospital. The practice grew steadily thanks to his philosophy of caring for animals in the most humane way possible and serving their families with kindness, empathy, and compassion. He recently opened a second practice in Union, WV, to better serve the local community. Union Animal Hospital is now open and offers wellness care, routine surgeries, and urgent care visits wherever the schedule allows.
He gives back to his community by serving on the New River Community and Technical College Board and the Advisory Board for the Greenbrier County Animal Shelter.
When he isn’t saving lives, Dr. McHale enjoys playing guitar as a member of the “Cat Head Biscuit Band”, reading, and hanging out with his children every chance he has. He is a huge supporter of the West Virginia State Fair and looks forward to serving the animals who are shown there.

Dr. Sylvia Isherwood

Veterinarian

Every veterinary hospital needs a cat whisperer who can calm the “fraidy cat” and perform great medical care on our feline patients. Dr. Isherwood is our answer to that call.
A long-time resident of Greenbrier County, Dr. Isherwood moved here in 1974, where she embraced her love of the great outdoors and has been mountain living ever since. She graduated with her undergraduate degree from WV State College and The University of South Florida. She attended the University of Georgia, graduating with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. She raises dairy goats and enjoys gardening, painting, and weaving. She has her own personal collection of cats. She also enjoys spending time with her horses. Dr. Isherwood is an advocate of Mother Earth and encourages STAH to be as green as possible.
